Ten new marketers available to hire, all ten are women. Controversial? Maybe. Beneficial? Definitely.
At least according to Ranu Coleman, head of marketing at PatPat, the American kids clothing company.
Having never worked in an all-female team before, for Coleman it has brought unique perspectives to enhance creativity. Bringing a strong sense of collaboration, increased support and a willingness to help each other amongst the team.
Additionally, there is an apparent lack of competition compared with previous gender-balanced teams that Coleman has worked on. Indeed she claims that the team functions and works together in a more effective manner.
Of course, as with any team there have been challenges. This is especially true as Coleman and her team are entirely remote, and thus trying to achieve team-bonding has been difficult.
Team-bonding days and events to bring everyone together have been tried by Coleman. She notes that her team is suitably communicative over Slack and video conferencing, but keeping the team engaged and bonded as a team is a constant challenge.
How Coleman seeks to address these challenges will be a evolving challenge for her in 2024, all eyes on PatPat.
