MJ Porter delivers another fast-paced historical adventure with 758. The battle scenes are particularly well handled, with the pacing keeping the action moving without becoming bogged down in unnecessary detail. I also enjoyed seeing Offa increasingly come into his own as a leader, while the intrigue and suspense kept me turning the pages.
My only real criticism is that I would have liked more of the political side of the story, particularly the politicking and one-to-one interactions between the characters. More time developing the individual characters and their relationships would have added even more depth to an already enjoyable story.
Overall, an exciting and suspenseful instalment, with plenty of action and a promising development of Offa as a character.
